Advocacy

AOA House of Delegates
The Wisconsin Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons (WAOPS) passionately represents the interests of Wisconsin's Osteopathic Physicians at the AOA House of Delegates (HOD). Hundreds of delegates from across the country descend annually in Chicago to deliberate on the issues that define the agenda and official opinion of the Osteopathic profession.

Advocacy and Important Issues
September 2022- WAOPS signed joined the AOA and multiple other associations by signing onto a letter to address prior authorization by advocating for the enactment of the Improving Seniors' Timely Access to Care Act

The WAOPS joined other associations with the American Osteopathic Association to denounce racism and inequality.

Wisconsin Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons (WAOPS) joined the American Osteopathic Association in response to VA Scope of Practice Memo. We believe that all patients, including our U.S. Veterans, deserve access to high-quality medical care provided by a fully trained and licensed physician.

WAOPS joined the AOA again in signing onto a letter to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, that addresses the Advancing Interoperability and Improving Prior Authorization Processes Proposed rule regarding PAs.

Wisconsin State Legislature
The WAOPS actively engages our state legislators on issues of importance for Osteopathic Physicians in Wisconsin. In addition, the WAOPS is routinely asked by legislators to guide or educate them on matters that affect Osteopathic Physicians and our patients.

February 2023- WAOPS has signed on in support of the All Copays Count bill as we believe that copay assistance is a critical aid for patients across Wisconsin.
