About

The Wisconsin Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons (WAOPS) is a non-profit professional organization comprised of osteopathic physicians, residents, interns, and medical students who meet the membership requirements of our bylaws. We promote the practice of osteopathic medicine and are dedicated to assisting the public in understanding its overall contribution to restoring and preserving good health. WAOPS offers continuing education programs that contribute to effective healthcare and are available to all members of the osteopathic profession. We are affiliated with the American Osteopathic Association (AOA).

Mission

The mission of WAOPS shall be to promote the distinctive philosophy and practice of osteopathic medicine in Wisconsin through continuing medical education, support for osteopathic physicians in practice, and advocacy for osteopathic medicine. In addition, WAOPS will apply osteopathic philosophy to advocate for a healthcare delivery system that maximizes the health of our communities.

Purpose 

According to the Bylaws, the Purpose of the WAOPS is to promote the advancement of osteopathic medicine through professional education, member services, advocacy, and public awareness to ensure the availability of quality osteopathic healthcare to the people of Wisconsin.

Education

To stay informed on legislative updates, individual and group accomplishments, as well as intriguing new discoveries WAOPS offers CME opportunities through its Summer Conferences and Fall Conferences, as well as other educational opportunities.

History

The Wisconsin Association of Osteopathic Physicians & Surgeons and Osteopathic Medicine (WAOPS) was formed in 1893 and became Incorporated in Wisconsin in 1903.  As 1903 is our official Founding year, the WAOPS will celebrate its 125th Anniversary in 2028.
